Store Front Administration

Store Front administration is a method of creating and maintaining your store front website. Unless you decide to go with a highly customized store front programmed from the ground up, the easiest method of creating a store front is via an application package such as Miva Merchant. Many other administration packages are available and supported.

With the administration package, your website developer utilizes wizard menus which creates your website store front for you. The admin package runs on your server allowing you to create and manage the store front from anywhere in the world. You decide the look of your site and the admin package stores the information in a database and creates your site.

Once you have created your site you can now create the catalog using the same administrator. You enter a product description, price, quantity discount, and shipping information. You can upload a photo of the product. You create categories and subcategories for your products and create associative links between products. You as the site administrator can do this or you can create a user id for someone else to input the catalog. Most packages allow you to create your catalog on your PC and then upload this catalog to your server via an admin import function. This is advantageous when there is a large catalog to maintain.

After your site is developed, you can go back and update or re-design the site to suit your needs.
